NASA seeks lunar surface concept proposals

The U.S. space agency said it’s seeking ideas for its lunar surface systems concept to help it develop plans for a return to the moon by 2020.The National Aeronautics and Space Administration said it will hold a June 6 discussion at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington and is inviting interested institutions, industry and academia to attend and submit proposals.NASA said it is soliciting …

Aerojet Engine Test Validates Low-Risk Propulsion Solution for NASA’s Constellation Program – Orion Service Module

Aerojet, a GenCorp company, successfully completed 250 hot-fire test sequences of its legendary R-4D 100-pound-thrust bipropellant engine. The test included over 20,000 starts under a broad variety of conditions expected for NASA’s Orion Service Module.

NASA To Offer Tour Of Testing Facility

SANDUSKY, Ohio — NASA is offering the public a rare tour of its testing facility near Sandusky. This weekend’s tour will give visitors to the NASA Plum Brook Station a look at the world’s largest vacuum chamber, which is used for testing rockets and other space gear.
