Rapid Detox….is it possible

For anybody addicted to any type of drug detox is often necessary before even going to a drug rehab center. The excruciating withdrawal symptoms from opiates can often cause the addict to wait much longer before seeking help. This article from CBS talks about a controversial rapid detox treatment for opiate addicts. This article from choosehelp.com is much more skeptical and talks about some alarming side effects. It seems the treatment is not used for alcohol detox. The cost of $15-20k which is not covered by insurance is extremely prohibitive.

It’s pretty remarkable that The Waismann Method Treatment hospitals advertise that the patient stays in the hospital only three to four days! And, for a portion of that time, they are under sedition in ICU as I understand it. After that, they move on a stay at a posh retreat. Assuming it works, that sounds so much better than the grueling experience that is all but guaranteed at traditional detox treatment centers.

Seems to me our society is overly focused on getting “instant” results with everything, and this is another symptom of that disease. I am highly skeptical that any drug addict can complete drug detox treatment in such a short amount of time. Considering the exorbitant price, perhaps it is better to “bit the bullet” and stick with the tried and true.

Yep, got to agree – everything these days has to be instantaneous!! Gone are the days when you can stay off work till your flu bug is gone. Nowadays your expected to linger there until your so sick and you have spread the virus to all your workmates. Its the same with detox – it needs time to ensure rehab.
